Abstract
This study focused on “21stcentury technology education: Artificial intelligence in classroom teaching and students’ academic performance in senior secondary schools in south East, Nigeria’. The application of AI to classroom instruction has demonstrated considerable potential for advancing educational equity and improving instructional efficiency. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has expanded significantly in recent years, reshaping teaching, learning and educational management processes. Two objectives and two research questions were raised to support the study. This study employed a co-relational survey research design. The population of the study comprised 2000 students and 200 teachers. The researchers sampled 192 students and 8 teachers using samples random sampling by balloting techniques. The instrument used data collection was Artificial Intelligence in Classroom Teaching and Students’ Academic Performance (AICTSAP). AICTSAP questionnaire was validated by two experts and test-tried on 30 students who were not part of the main study and a reliability coefficient of 0.98 was obtained. Research questions were answered using mean statistics via SPSS which revealed the grand mean of 2.54which implies that teachers generally accepted the utilization of AI in classroom instruction. Also, ¬the grand mean of 2.65 confirmed that teachers generally accepted the availability and use of AI-related devices and facilities in schools. Furthermore, it was recommended that government should provide AI software for classroom teaching and learning to reduce difficulty in learning.
